Michigan Intermediate School Districts, in cooperation with their local constituent districts, are required to adopt a common school calendar identifying when school will not be in session for winter holiday and spring breaks. This calendar applies to the ISD and all local districts in its service area. If a district would like to deviate from the common calendar for its winter or spring break, the district must obtain approval from the ISD and request a waiver from the Michigan Department of Education. Although not required, districts are encouraged to also identify common dates for professional development in the adopted common calendar.
