We're so excited to be celebrating Heikinpäivä this weekend in Hancock. Today, the team from TV6 & FOX UP visited the Finnish American Heritage Center for Upper Michigan Today.
During one of the segments, they talked with Corey Soumis, CCISD Career and Technical Education Director, and Fred Jaehnig, Hancock Central High School - Official Site Industrial Arts Teacher, about the projects that local students have been working as part of the event.
The projects included refurbishment of the world's largest kicksled and huge wooden chairs. There were wonderfully done and we're so appreciative of their tremendous work.

📆 Schedule Carefully for School Success! 📆
Try to plan medical appointments and extended trips whenever school isn’t in session. This helps minimize disruptions to your child’s education and ensures they don’t miss out on important learning in class.
Check the school calendar when setting dates for appointments and vacations. By being considerate of the school schedule, we can prioritize our children’s education and help them stay on track with their learning.

On September 16th, educational leaders from across the Upper Peninsula gathered in Marquette for the UPLifting Families Network Kick-Off Retreat. This event marked the start of the UPLifting Families Network, part of a new statewide program focused on building a network supporting educators, providing educational programs, and linking families to community resources. Strengthening family engagement in meaningful ways around education is a key factor that research shows is one of the strongest predictors of a child's success in school and beyond. The program aims to actively involve parents and families in their children's’ educational journeys from preschool through age 20.

But who's counting?
