We want to congratulate Steve Kass, CCISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Business & Entrepreneurship Instructor, who was honored with the prestigious President's Award from the REMC Association of Michigan.
This distinguished award, presented at the annual REMC Inservice in Traverse City last week, recognizes Steve's leadership as Chair of the REMC Instructional Technology Specialists (RITS) and his dedication to technology integration in education. Steve was the first person from the Upper Peninsula to serve in this statewide leadership role, demonstrating the caliber of educators we have right here in the Copper Country.
Over his 12.5-year career with REMC1, Steve progressed from System Engineer to Director of Instructional Technology, focusing on innovation and excellence in educational technology and advancing how technology can be integrated into the classroom responsibly.
As the Business and Entrepreneurship Instructor, Steve brings this experience directly to our students and how they can navigate technology responsibly in today's digital world, including the appropriate use of emerging tools like AI. He prepares our students for success in the modern business landscape.
The President's Award is presented to just one individual annually from among all RITS members, REMC Directors, and MDE Ed Tech staff across Michigan.
