BRIDGE High School
Alumni include business owners, business managers,
medical technicians, nurse aides, college students
and college graduates.
BRIDGE High School focuses on each student's future.
All students prepare for the next step through an
educational development plan. An interest inventory
is given to each student from which they develop a
post-high school goal and demonstrate they are
working towards this goal. Also, each student
develops a portfolio which may be taken with them on
job interviews, etc.
When entering BRIDGE, each student takes the BASI
(Basic Achievement Skills Inventory) test on Nova
Net. Math, reading, and language skills are measured
for each student. Scores indicate student's
strengths and weaknesses in each of these areas. If
remediation is needed in a certain area, a student
will be placed on Nova Net basic skills before being
placed into a general education classroom.
Project SUCCESS is
offered to each student attending BRIDGE. The goals
of this program are to prevent and reduce alcohol,
tobacco, and other drug use to improve school
performance. To accomplish these goals, students
will have the opportunity to participate in
additional school wide awareness programs, classroom
discussions, extra curricular activities, small
groups and individual meetings to correct erroneous
perceptions about substance use, and learn skills to
identify and resist social and situational pressures
to use substances.

Comments: What makes BRIDGE High School different
from other area schools?
"Switching to BRIDGE
was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The
relaxed atmosphere made it a joy to come to school.
Now I am a second year Business Major at Michigan
Tech. I would have never dreamed of going to college
before attending BRIDGE."
"I'm a BRIDGE High School Student and proud to be
one. I'm grateful for BRIDGE because this is my last
resort. I have been to a least ten different schools
in my life because of relocation, so I have never
learned anything. At BRIDGE, I have learned so much
that I never even thought was possible. I have never
been to a better school."
"When I was in a local school, I never wanted to go
to college, but after going to BRIDGE, I am now
planning to go to college. "
"Since I started BRIDGE, I've learned so much. The
staff is great. They explain everything until you
understand. They don't just throw homework in your
face and expect you to know how to do it. BRIDGE
also gets you prepared for college. They encourage
you to go as far as you can. Before, I was worried
about making it through nurse's aide class. Now I am
positive I will become a registered nurse." |
