BRIDGE High School Alumni
now includes two business owners in our community,
business managers, medical technicians, nurse aides,
college students and college graduates.
BRIDGE High School focuses on the future. Each senior
must attend Senior Portfolio. This class prepares each
student for the next step. Each must develop a goal and
demonstrate that they are working towards the post-high
school goal. Seniors develop a portfolio which is taken
with them on job interviews, etc. Each student prepares
for his or her own future!
Seventy five percent of the BRIDGE students for the
class of 2005 are planning on enrolling in
post-secondary education programs. The students usually
score within the national average to above average
range.
Students at BRIDGE receive a pretest when they enter the
program. They receive a post test at the end of year..
The goal is to gain academically by at least one year in
reading and math scores. The year 2003-04 showed average
gains to be as follows:
- *Math 1.3
- Vocabulary 2.1
- Reading 2.2
---we are currently in
the process of changing the test that we are using.
These results are from the ABLE.
Student Comments:
Quotes from student letters which were sent in with our
nomination for Alternative Education School of the Year
"I'm a BRIDGE High School Student and proud to be one.
I'm grateful for BRIDGE because this is my last resort.
I have been to a least ten different schools in my life
because of relocation, so I have never learn anything.
At BRIDGE, I have learned so much that I never even
thought was possible. I have never been to a better
school."
"When I was in a local school, I never wanted to go to
college but after going to BRIDGE, I am now planning to
go to college. "
"Since I started BRIDGE, I've learned so much. The staff
is great. They explain everything until you understand.
They don't just throw homework in your face and expect
you to know how to do it. BRIDGE also get you prepared
for college. They encourage you to go as far as you can.
Before, I was worried about making through nurse's aide
class. Now I am positive I will become a registered
nurse." |
